Important Information About Your Move-Out At Lexington Crossing

Thank you for being a resident at Lexington Crossing! As your move-out date approaches, we want to ensure your transition is as smooth and hassle-free as possible. Take some time to review the detailed information outlined below to ensure you’re familiar with our move-out procedures. If you plan to stay another year, please contact us as soon as possible so we can send you your renewal lease.

Move-Out Procedures

Inspection Process:

Move-out inspections are conducted after you’ve relinquished possession of your apartment to the Lexington Crossing leasing office. Please ensure the apartment is thoroughly cleaned and that all personal belongings have been removed before returning your keys. Our team will complete the inspection once all vacating parties have moved out.

Key Return:

All front door keys, bedroom keys, mailbox keys, and amenity fobs must be returned to the office by 12:00 p.m. on your move-out date. These items must be returned at the same time. Forgetting to return these keys on time will result in replacement fees, and failure to vacate the unit will result in holdover charges. Your lease expiration is July 31, 2025, at 12 pm. Any keys received past July 31st will be issued replacement and Holdover charges.

Common Areas Responsibility:

Even if only one resident is moving out and the rest are renewing, the entire apartment will be inspected and must be cleaned. The common area is the responsibility of both the outgoing and renewing residents and includes the kitchen, living room, and any other shared spaces.

Cleaning Requirements:

At the bottom of the page, we’ve attached a Cleaning Checklist for you to reference at your convenience. This checklist outlines specific cleaning tasks that must be completed before moving out of your apartment. Failure to meet these cleaning standards will result in additional charges.

Move-Out Charges

Estimated Charges:

A list outlining estimated charges can be found as part of the Cleaning Checklist attached at the bottom of this page. Please download and review the Estimated Charges list. You will be charged accordingly for any damages to the apartment or for leaving behind trash or personal belongings. Also, please remember to return all keys to avoid replacement fees.

Charges for Damages to Common Areas:

Any charges for cleaning or damages in the apartment’s common areas (kitchen, living room, hallways, etc.) will be divided equally among all roommates. Residents will not be held accountable for any discrepancies noted on your move-in inspection unless these items were addressed by management and reoccurred after that time.

Outstanding Balance:

Any outstanding balances on your account, such as past rent, utilities, or damage charges, must be paid at the time of move-out. Please ensure that all fees are paid in full to avoid delays in processing your final statement.

Forwarding Address & Final Statement

Forwarding Address:

Be prepared to provide a valid forwarding address when you return your keys. Also, before moving out, update your address through your Resident Portal to the address where you would like your Financial Move-Out Statement to be sent. Please note that updating your address in the portal does not forward your personal mail; this update is only for your Financial Move-Out Statement.

Change of Address:

You can complete a change of address by filling out a form in person at the Post Office or by visiting www.usps.com and selecting the “Change of Address” option. There is a $1 charge for this online service, but your mail will be sent piece by piece to the new address. Also, please discontinue any newspaper/magazine subscriptions and utility accounts that you have ahead of move-out.

Additional Notes:

No Late Move-Outs:

We will accept keys anytime before 12:00 p.m. on the day of move-out. Any items not returned by this time will result in holdover charges or replacement fees, and failure to vacate the unit may result in legal action.

Vacating Early:

Should you choose to turn in your keys before your move-out date, please note that doing so does not release you from the obligations of your lease agreement. Even if you vacate early, you are still responsible for rent, utilities (if applicable), and any common area charges up until the end of your lease. Our team will not conduct the inspection until after the official lease end date.

Trash Disposal:

Please ensure all trash and personal items are removed from the apartment. Please use the designated trash bins located around the property for disposing of bagged trash. Any personal property left behind after you vacate will be considered abandoned and removed at your expense: $25 per item, $85 per large item, and $25 per trash bag.

Animal Registration:

If you had a pet in the apartment, please ensure it was registered with the office. Any animal-related damages in the common areas will be charged to the registered pet owner. However, if the pet was unregistered, those charges will be distributed evenly among all apartment residents.
